A SPORTSWEAR shop is set to open a new store in Bournemouth town centre today.
Sports Direct is to open its newest branch in Commercial Road today (Friday, June 2) as it moves to its existing site.
The retailer, founded by Mike Ashley, previously had a shop in The Avenue shopping centre across the road which recently closed.
Frasers Group was given planning permission by BCP Council to open an outlet in the former H&M unit.
The Daily Echo has approached Sports Direct for more information.
H&M closed its Commercial Road store in September 2021 to focus on its “long-term strategy of offering customers the best possible shopping experience in the right locations".
The site has been unoccupied ever since.
Sports Direct sells Adidas, Puma, Nike and Under Armour amongst other sportswear brands.
There was a stock clearance sale in the days leading up to the closure of The Avenue branch.
Owners Frasers Group also owns House of Fraser, which closed its Bournemouth store in March 2022.
