DETECTIVES have launched an investigation into a reported sexual assault along a country path which happened during the early hours.
A cordon has been put in place along Castleman trailway in Broadstone after it was reported a woman was sexually assaulted at around 2am on Thursday, June 8.
Police say no arrests have been made in connection with the incident and are not releasing any more details on the case.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “Dorset Police received a report of a sexual assault in the Broadstone area of Poole in the early hours of Thursday 8 June 2023.
“The incident is reported to have occurred just after 2am along the Castleman trailway.
“A detailed investigation has been launched by detectives to establish the full circumstances.”
Castleman trailway is a 16.5-mile footpath which follows much of the old Southampton to Dorchester railway line.
Connecting Ringwood and Poole, the trailway is named after Charles Castleman, a Wimborne Solicitor, who was responsible for building the original railway line.
