A WOMAN who died after being hit by a train in Poole has been named at an inquest held today. 

Claire Louise Jesse died on the tracks at Branksome Railway Station on Monday, June 12 shortly after lunchtime. 

The 36-year-old was born in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire before moving to Parkstone Road, Poole. She worked in human resources.

Speaking at the opening to her inquest at Bournemouth Town Hall on Thursday, June 15, coroner’s officer Matt Cave said she died of multiple injuries. 

Mr Cave said: “On Monday, June 12, British Transport Police were called to Branksome Railway station to a report that a person had been struck [by] a train. 

“British Transport Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances into her death."

The inquest heard that a post-mortem examination was done by pathologist Robert Blahut who reported that Claire died of multiple injuries. 

Assistant Coroner for Dorset, Richard Middleton adjourned the inquest into Claire’s death until January 26, 2024. 

British Transport Police were called to the railway line at 12.13pm on Monday and attended along with the ambulance service and fire service 

Power to the track was shut off while paramedics worked at the scene and there was travel disruption until around 9pm that day. 

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s said they sent a crew from Westbourne and another from Springbourne which were stood down at 1.12pm.
