THUNDERSTORMS and heavy rain could bring disruption across Dorset, the Met Office has warned.
A yellow weather alert has been issued for most of the country for Sunday, including Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and the rest of Dorset.
The warning is valid from 12am on Sunday, June 18, until around midnight the same day.
The Met Office says while some places will see small amounts of rain, some places could see as much as 30mm in an hour and 60mm in six hours.
There’s also potential for “frequent lightning, strong winds and hail”.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Where this occurs there is likely to be some disruption. While there is a high likelihood that thunderstorms will develop over England and Wales, there remains a large amount of uncertainty in exactly where these develop. This uncertainty is likely to remain even up to short lead times.”
In terms of what to expect, the Met Office says spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
There is also a “small chance” homes and businesses could be damaged.
Train and bus services could also be delayed or cancelled.
There is a slight chance power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
The warning comes after days of very warm temperatures with highs of almost 30C on Tuesday.
Saturday is expected to be cloudy with light rain in the morning up until 10am.
Currently the Met Office forecast suggests Sunday will be cloudy with highs of 21C.
