OVERNIGHT closures over a July weekend could bring disruption to motorists coming into Bournemouth

The A338 Spur Road will be closed southbound between 10pm and 5am from Sunday, July 16 and Monday, July 18.

The closure, which only affects the southbound carriageway, is to allow RMS Ltd to carry out surface preservation work.

A spokesman for Dorset Council said: “RMS Ltd will publicise the road closure in a number of ways: they will place information boards on the road in this area to inform the travelling public of the works.

“They will carry out a letter drop to local residents directly affected by the works and they will sign a vehicular diversion route using the local road network.”

A signed diversion route will keep drivers on the A31 at Ashley Heath roundabout, through West Parley, past Bournemouth Airport before rejoining the dual carriageway at Blackwater junction.

Meanwhile, a lane will be closed on the southbound A338 Spur Road by Dorset Council for 'training purposes.

The single-lane closures are in place overnight between 9pm and 3am on July 12 to 13, August 16 to 17 and September 6 to 7.
