ANDERS Rowe has been snapped up by Premiership King’s Lynn Stars, to ride alongside his duties for Poole Pirates in the Championship.
The 21-year-old was originally without a team place anywhere in the UK for the 2023 season, despite having ridden in the top two tiers in each of the past two years.
But after an injury to Jack Thomas on the eve of the campaign, Pirates swooped to bring in Rowe as his replacement.
The Weymouth-born talent has had a mixed start to life as a Pirate. He is currently performing below his 5.08 average, having racked up 54 points (paid 68) from 44 races across 12 meetings so far, winning six heats. That haul included a disappointing return of 1+1 in Wednesday night’s loss at Oxford Cheetahs.
His availability has been hampered slightly by both injury and also international commitments, notably impressing on his SGP2 debut in Prague earlier this month, reaching the semi-finals.
Rowe, who rode in the top level for Ipswich Witches last year, has been drafted in by King’s Lynn to take their ‘rising star’ spot, with Jason Edwards dropped.
He is set to make his debut for the Stars away at Wolverhampton Wolves on Monday night, as the club look to arrest a seven-match winless streak.
Among Rowe’s new King’s Lynn teammates are 2021 world champion Artem Laguta and former Pirates star Nicolai Klindt.
King’s Lynn: Nicolai Klindt, Kye Thomson, Artem Laguta, Thomas Jorgensen, Michael Palm Toft, Simon Lambert, Anders Rowe.
