Despite its traditional British town charm, Christchurch also boasts a modern vibe.
With fashionable shops, Saxon Square shopping centre, and modern bars and restaurants, there is a blend of old and new around every corner.
The town offers a unique experience to its visitors, with its mix of historic sites and modern attractions. It’s a great place to explore and discover something new, with plenty of activities and entertainment on offer.
Having been historically within the county of Hampshire, the town became part of Dorset in 1974 along with the reorganisation of local government.
But many of the townsfolk never forgot their roots and plenty of them still have a love of Hampshire County Cricket Club!
These pictures were all taken in Christchurch in the 1970s.
