A man stole two laptops from the RNLI while he was employed by the lifesaving charity.

Amal Chandarana, 39, pleaded guilty to a single charge of theft by an employee.

He was made subject to a curfew when he was sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court on June 9.

Court papers stated the defendant stole two laptops belonging to the RNLI at the organisation’s base in West Quay Road, Poole, on March 26.

Chandarana, whose address was given as Lifeboat Quay, Poole, received an eight-week community order, which included the tagged overnight curfew.

The defendant was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £114 surcharge.

An RNLI spokesperson said: “Amal Chandarana is a former employee who no longer works for the organisation.”
