POLICE are stepping up patrols after a teenage boy was assaulted with a knife at Poole Bus Station in broad daylight.
The 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a serious army injury following the incident on Tuesday afternoon, June 27.
A weapon has not yet been recovered and police are urging anyone who comes across it to contact them immediately.
The incident was reported to police at 5.02pm.
Following enquiries, a 20-year-old man from Poole has been arrested in relation to the incident.
Detective Inspector Ben Griffin, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances of this incident and at this time there is no information to suggest that further people were involved in this incident.
“I would urge anyone who saw what happened or who has any information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.
“No weapon has been recovered at this time and I would urge anyone who comes across a knife or bladed article in the area not to touch it and to report it to police immediately.
Detective Inspector Griffin added: “Finally, I would like to hear from anybody who was driving in the area around the relevant time and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
Dorset Police said there will be an increased police presence in the area and local officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 17.07hrs on June 27th to an incident in the Poole area.
"We sent two double-crew land ambulances, critical care car, doctor and operations officer. One individual was conveyed by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
