TREADMILLS are running once again at BH Live Active Queen’s Park as it finally reopens its doors two years since it closed down.
The newly refurbished gym, in Queen’s Park South Drive, Bournemouth, boasts three impressive new gym rooms and a café with refreshments.
A mind and body room has been fitted out along with a heavy weight gym, a cardiovascular gym, a group cycle room featuring TVs with timings and a classroom.
Elsewhere, there is a café selling food and drinks, as well as protein powder, and a café garden – an outside seating area for gymgoers.
Sam Roberts, centre manager at BH Live Active, said he was “very proud” of what has been achieved to open the gym.
He said: “It’s great to welcome everybody back. We have an all singing, all dancing studio one which will incorporate all of our LesMills classes.
“We've got a new revamped mind body studio for our plates, a new cafe with grab and go food with good quality coffee.
“The team has been amazing; we have only been on site for a couple of months and there has been a lot of investment and a lot of help from the wider team as well.”
The gym previosuly closed in summer 2021 after years of difficulty and uncertainty about the future of the site, amid “ongoing industry and economic challenges” centred around operating costs.
Despite the new revamp, the crèche, pool and spa at Queen’s Park will remain closed. Alternative swimming and spa facilities are available at nearby centres.
The gym has had a soft launch over the weekend, with the introduction of classes, ahead of an official launch on Monday, July 10.
The class timetable for BH Live Active, Queen’s Park areonline and on the BH Live Active app.
BH Live Active membership also includes access to gyms, swimming pools, spa facilities and exercise classes at Littledown, Pelhams, Stokewood, Sir David English Sports Centre and BH Live Active, Corfe Mullen.
