A BOURNEMOUTH town centre nightclub enjoyed by generations of people is to close this weekend.
Revellers will enjoy one final night at Walkabout, in Old Christchurch Road, starting from 10pm on Saturday, July 22.
The nightclub, which hosts the popular Snakebite Sunday, will be holding a closing party before the venue reopens as Popworld Bournemouth in September.
In a statement on social media, Walkabout said the closure was the “end of an era”.
It added: “We'll be saying farewell to Walkabout Bournemouth before we reopen as Popworld Bournemouth in September with a closing party on July 22.”
Popworld is a chain of nightclubs with the closest ones in Southampton and Weymouth.
Self-described as a “late-night bar with a difference – we are cheese with style”, the nightclub will serve up cocktails and “cheesy” pop tunes.
Former Walkabout guests expressed their sadness at the closure, with many saying they had some good times at the venue.
