CHERRIES boss Andoni Iraola is looking forward to working with Justin Kluivert, with the new head coach highlighting the summer signing’s versatility.
Days after Iraola had been appointed as Gary O’Neil’s successor, Kluivert was unveiled as Cherries’ first signing of pre-season, the winger arriving from Roma after a loan spell last term at Spanish club Valencia.
Iraola crossed paths with the Dutch international last term, as he managed former club Rayo Vallecano to a victory and draw against Kluivert’s Valencia.
In fact, Kluivert converted a late penalty to produce the aforementioned draw in April, Valencia losing away to Rayo 2-1 earlier on in the campaign.
So far this pre-season Kluivert has operated on the left wing, but also briefly played up top, with Iraola believing he can more than do job there – even if he feels it is not the former Ajax man’s best position.
He told the Daily Echo: “I think Justin can provide us.
“He can play up front in the forward position we use up front, can be a winger, both sides, can play as a second striker, even as number nine, even though I don't think this is the best position for him.
“But he can help us in a lot of different positions and I love the final touches he has. He's very good around the box, the finishing, and also I want to learn more about him training every day and how we can fit him well in everything.”
