A SUSHI restaurant in Bournemouth has been named in the prestigious Michelin guide.
Art Sushi, in Westbourne, has been included in the coveted guide in a whirlwind three months for the owner, Kamil Skalczynski.
The restaurant was named in the Good Food Guide and on the 100 best local restaurants list in July and adds this latest accolade to a restaurant that has a fantastic reputation.
Kamil said he was shocked to get ‘three of the biggest achievements you can get’ in such a short space of time.
“After 17 years, I didn’t expect to be in the Michelin Guide,” Kamil told the Echo.
“This is something that was my dream and we were shocked that we got so many achievements at the same time.
“We are the one Japanese restaurant with these achievements in the south of the UK.”
The Michelin Guide praised the restaurant for the sushi experience it provides.
“You can sit at individual oak-topped tables, but it’s at the counter where you can best appreciate the humble and determined approach of chef-owner Kamil,” the guide said.
“His dream of opening a bright, busy sushi restaurant became a reality here in the suburbs of Bournemouth.
“The seafood and vegetarian preparations are undertaken with care, understanding and respect; remove the stress of decision making by going for the omakase menu.”
