A MOTORIST has been told to pay more than £800 after going 50mph in a north Dorset village.
Colin Dowding, aged 57, of Pepper Hill, Shillingstone, has also been given six points on his driving licence for the offence.
It happened on August 2, 2022, on the A350 in Spetisbury, near Blandford Forum when Dowding travelled 50mph through the village in his Ford.
This section of the route has a 30mph speed limit in place.
Dowding pleaded guilty to one charge of exceeding the 30 mph speed limit in contravention of a local traffic order and was sentenced in his absence at Weymouth Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, August 1.
Dowding was fined £538, told to pay a victim surcharge of £215 and costs of £90 - totalling £843.
