AN INDIAN festival taking place this weekend has been rescheduled because of the weather.

Mela Festival, which was supposed to return in Poole Park on Saturday, August 5, has been rescheduled to a new date by organisers.

Because of “unforeseen weather conditions”, the festival has been rescheduled to Sunday, August 6.

In a statement online, a spokesman for the festival said: “Due to unforeseen weather conditions, we've made the tough decision to reschedule the much-awaited Dorset Mela.

"But fret not. We want everyone to have a fantastic time, so mark your calendars for the new date: Sunday, August 6.

“Prepare for a day filled with vibrant performances, delectable food, and an unforgettable celebration of culture.

“Let's come together and create wonderful memories under the sunny skies.”

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for "unseasonably windy weather" that will affect Bournemouth and Poole on Saturday, August 5.

It is set to be in place from 6 am to 9 pm on Saturday, August 5 lasting most of the day, and wind gusts of around 50mph could be possible.

It said conditions will be calmer on Sunday and will feel “rather cool but pleasant in any sunnier moments”.
