THE FAMILY of Cameron Hamilton, who died in Bournemouth town centre over the weekend following a 'stabbing', has paid tribute to their “beautiful boy”.
The 18-year-old, from Bournemouth, was pronounced dead in the Square following an alleged fight involving a group of people.
A statement released by Dorset Police on behalf of Cameron’s family said: “Cam is loved so much by his whole family, we ask that our privacy is respected at this devastating time.
“We have not lost our beautiful boy, he has been taken.
“We don't want this to be what Cam is remembered for, we want him to be remembered for the funny, kind and wonderful person he is and always will be.
“We would also like to thank all the police officers who attended the scene and were with Cam and all the people who have sent their condolences and wishes to the family.”
Dozens of flowers have been left for Cameron in the Square, with many friends remaining at the scene visibly upset.
One message left on a bouquet read: “I’m blessed to have met such a kind soul and you will never be forgotten.”
Another said: “You were one of the nicest and kindest people I ever got to meet. You will always be in our hearts, you are gone but never forgotten.”
“You always put people before yourself. You were the most kind, caring, selfless person,” another person said.”
Detective Inspector Neil Third, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are first and foremost with the family of the young man who sadly died in this incident.
“We have dedicated officers supporting the family and keeping them updated with the progress of our investigation at what must be a truly dreadful time for them.”
