A NEW ladies rugby team has entered the playing field.
New Milton has introduced a new ladies rugby team with the objective to encourage more female sports locally.
Known as The New Milton Fillies, the all-girls team was also formed to create a platform for the girls youth section of the league to shift into senior level rugby.
Nina McAllister, an ex-player of Sutton & Epsom RFC ladies’ team and rugby enthusiast, said: "We want to provide women with the chance to showcase and nurture their passion for rugby.
“Our mission is to encourage more females to take up the sport and compete competitively whilst keeping an inclusive feeling and having a lot of fun.”
The New Milton Fillies are also dedicated to giving back to the community of New Milton.
The NMRFC Ladies Touch Rugby Team, dubbed The Mother Ruckers, have been playing for five years and are part of a competitive Hampshire League.
The Mother Ruckers are also part of The Great 8’s charity supporting suicide awareness and local causes.
Nina adds: “As this newly formed group emerges, one thing is certain - our female rugby team will be a powerhouse in the making, ready to embrace victory, on and off the field.”
Training will begin on Monday, September 4, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
