THREE locations in Dorset have appeared on a list of the most and least expensive seaside resorts in the country.
A survey compared prices across 30 popular coastal destinations in the UK. Cheaprooms.co.uk studied the average price for the cheapest available double room in a hotel or guest house during August.
Only properties within walking distance of a beach and rated at least three stars were considered.
With an average rate of £154 per night, Sidmouth in Devon emerged as the priciest destination.
The towns of St Ives and Bude, both in Cornwall, came out as the second and third most expensive destinations, respectively.
Poole was ranked 4th most expensive seaside resort with an average rate of £132 per night.
Meanwhile, Weymouth was named as a cheaper alternative, with an average rate of £108 per night.
Bournemouth ranked 17 on the list with a price of £87.
Compared to 2019, when the same survey was conducted, hotel rates are up by 35 per cent, on average – an increase of almost 8 per cent per year.
Overall not a single seaside resort is more affordable when compared to 2019, according to the survey’s findings.
