A helicopter has been circling above Bournemouth after a woman 'fell' from a second-storey window leaving her with serious injuries.

Dorset Police were called to Boscombe after reports of a woman falling a flat above a nursey. 

Multiple police cars and ambulances attended the scene at the junction of Christchurch Road, Ashley Road and Heathcote Road at 9.27am this morning.

A double-crewed land ambulance attended the incident and rushed the woman to an air ambulance in nearby Kings Park. 

Cordons were put in place for the rest of the morning, surrounding Horizons Nursery and the junction. 

A police helicopter was also spotted hovering over the Boscombe area.

Dorset Police have since arrested a man on suspicion of false imprisonment.

One witness, who saw the scene unfold, said people rushed to help the woman after she appeared to slip from the window she was sitting on.

He said: “It’s just shocking when this happens where you live.”

A local shop owner, who was stood with her young daughter, also said the incident was a ‘massive shock’, and that she was concerned for the children inside the nursery below.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We were called at 9.29am to a medical emergency in the Boscombe area.

“We sent an operations officer, a double-crewed land ambulance and an air ambulance to the scene.”

A flight tracking website, recorded the air ambulance leaving the scene and heading in the direction of Southampton.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 9.27am on Wednesday, August 16, Dorset Police was called to an incident at the junction of Christchurch Road, Ashley Road and Heathcote Road in Boscombe.

"It was reported that a woman fell from a window.

"Officers and the ambulance service attended and the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"A man has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment."
