A POPULAR Bournemouth nightclub is undergoing a £1 million makeover and will come out the other side playing pop’s greatest hits.
Walkabout, in Old Christchurch Road, closed in late July and is currently undergoing refurbishment work.
The venue will reopen as THE long-established nightclub franchise, Popworld, on Friday, September 8.
With tunes from S Club 7 to the Vengaboys, Rihanna to Dua Lipa and even the catchiest songs from TikTok, organisers say Popworld has something for every pop lover.
Open seven days a week, Mondays will see drag nights and Thursdays will be Popworld’s popular Karaokestar Thursdays.
General manager Jamie Watson, who worked at the former Walkabout for five years, said: “I’ve always thought that Bournemouth has been crying out for a Popworld, and the long wait is almost over, we are getting ready to bring you a Popworld at last.
“I’m confident that it's going to be your new night out every week, whatever day that may be, whether you are a local, student or visiting Bournemouth for a great night out, Popworld will be on your list of destinations every time.”
Popworld Bournemouth will be hosting a grand launch party on Saturday, September 16, with special guest Kimberly Wyatt of Pussycat Doll fame.
UPDATE: Kimberly Wyatt has since pulled out of appearing at Popworld. A new special guest will be announced soon.
