A MAIN road through Bournemouth was closed last night after a concern for welfare.
Dorset Police were called to a concern for welfare of a man on a bridge on the A338, Wessex Way, at around 7.45pm on Sunday, September 3.
Officers attended and road closures were put in place between the Richmond Hill Roundabout and the Bournemouth West Roundabout while efforts were made to negotiate with the man.
Bourne Avenue was also closed by the county force.
The man was brought to safety at around 9.55pm, and the road was reopened.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 7.46pm on Sunday 3 September 2023 raising concern for the welfare of a man on a bridge on the A338 Wessex Way in Bournemouth.
“Officers attended and efforts were made to negotiate with the man. Road closures were put in place to allow for the safety of everyone involved as we responded to the incident.
“The man was brought to safety at around 9.55pm and was taken to receive the appropriate care.
“We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place.”
