Bournemouth's most dangerous neighbourhoods have been revealed with new crime data breaking down offences over the last three years.

Statistics for the area show a total of 17,881 crimes were committed in the town during 2022, which was a slight decrease from 18,186 in 2021.

In 2022 the crime rate in Bournemouth worked out to 91 crimes per 1,000 people, which was 51% higher than the Dorset rate of 60 per 1,000 residents.

Additionally, the data from CrimeRate.co.uk also broke down which neighbourhoods in Bournemouth were considered to be the 'most dangerous' with the amount of crime committed there.

This was compiled by mapping incidents between August 2020 and July 2023 to get a crime rate per 1,000 residents for each neighbourhood.

What are Bournemouth's 'most dangerous' neighbourhoods?

The neighbourhood with the highest crime rate during the time period was Central Bournemouth, with a rate of 215.4 crimes per 1,000 people.

Nearby East Cliff was in second spot at 194.51 per 1,000 people, whilst Boscombe West was in third at 122.66.

Meanwhile, Talbot and Branksome Woods had the lowest rate at just 36.37 per 1,000 people.

Most neighbourhoods surrounding central Bournemouth were below a crime rate of 100 per 1,000 people.

Winton was the closest of the neighbourhoods on the exterior of the town, as it had a rate of 94.24 whilst Springbourne & Queen's Park was 93.61.

The most common crimes recorded in Bournemouth as a whole are violence and sexual offences, with 7,492 offences during 2022, giving a crime rate of 38 per 1,000 people.

This is 4.5% lower than 2021's figure of 7,846 offences and a difference of 1.79 from 2021's crime rate of 40.

Bournemouth's least common crimes are possession of weapons, with 124 offences recorded in 2022, an increase of 4.2% from 2021's figure of 119 crimes.
