POLICE seized a set of golf clubs from a man in Bournemouth town centre.

Members of the Bournemouth neighbourhood policing team were out in the town centre on Monday, September 11, conducting high visibility patrols in the square.

At around 4.30pm, officers saw a man walking with a set of golf clubs in a Motocaddy bag, which they believed were not his.

The clubs were seized, and are in the safe possession of the officers, for the owner to come forward and claim.

Elsewhere on Monday, officers in the neighbourhood team were taking a multi-agency approach, working with the town rangers, shop security and the town centre CCTV operators.

This led to PC Connor stopping and searching a man suspected of shoplifting in Westbourne.

The neighbourhood team operate in Bournemouth town centre, aiming to provide a visible policing presence through operations including Fireglow and Nightjar.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing to identify the owner of the clubs."
