A PUB in Bournemouth has raised over £1,400 and counting to help a young boy get life-changing surgery.

Harri Honeyfield from Bournemouth suffers from cerebral palsy, global development delay, and epilepsy.

To improve his quality of life, SDR surgery has become available which could permanently fix the spasticity in Harri’s legs.

However, the surgical costs and aftercare cost upwards of £50,000.

Harri’s family set up a JustGiving page which has now seen over £16,000 in donations.

Abbey Lee is the landlady at The Broadway Pub in Bournemouth and continues to show her support for Harri by creating many fundraisers to support him and his family.

She said: “I met him the other day. He's such a beautiful child.

“To help raise money for him, we do something called supermarket sweep. I bought a gift card and all the people in my pub paid for raffle tickets, where all the money goes into Harri’s pot.

“We've also got other pots around the bar and we did a meat raffle. So once the meat is paid for, all the money again goes to Harri.”

This Sunday, Abbey is holding a pool competition which will hopefully raise a large amount of money for Harri’s surgery.

“We're expected to raise about £700 this week for him.

“We're at about £1,400 now, hoping to get over the £2,000 mark this weekend.

“If that was my child, I would be grateful for anything anybody was doing. I'm in a position where I've got a lot of people coming into my business and I can lean on them all for a little bit.

"A couple of pounds here and there, people don't notice, and they don't realise how quickly that money maps up.”

Andrea, Harri’s mum, is overjoyed at the support from Abbey and the pub.

She said: “I went in and just asked them if they would take a couple of collection tins, and since then, they've just been dropping money off here, there and everywhere.

“Abbey is going to keep on going until she hits the target, which is so nice to have somebody giving you that kind of support.

“Lots of people have supported us and lots of people have given big sums of money, which is so lovely.”
