A MAN has been arrested after a two-car crash in a Bournemouth high street.

Shortly after 6.20am this morning, Monday, September 18, Wimborne Road in Winton was closed by police after a report of a crash outside Boots.

Two land ambulances and a car from the ambulance service and two police cars attended the scene, with one man taken to hospital for treatment.

A vehicle was recovered at around 8.30am.

A 33-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 06:20hrs on Monday 18 September to an incident in Winton. We sent a rapid response vehicle and two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”

Bournemouth Echo: Emergency services were called to Wimborne Road this morning.

In an unrelated incident, emergency services were called to Wimborne Road 24 hours earlier at around 7.30am on Sunday, September 17, to reports of a man found outside a property.

Police officers and the ambulance service attended, but the man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dorset Police confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious, and his family has been informed.

A spokesperson for the county force said: "The man’s family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. The coroner has also been notified."
