A POPULAR three-day writing festival is back for a second time aimed at aspirational writers and poets.
The Bournemouth Writing Festival premiered earlier this year with nearly two thousand tickets sold.
It proved a hit with 75 events and activities from over 100 writing experts and professionals.
Now, the festival is due to return for a second time with even more activities for ambitious creatives.
Additions to the 2024 festival include a chance for writers to pitch their manuscripts to literary agents and get professional feedback in private sessions.
A poetry hub will also be introduced to teach and inspire poets so they can improve their work.
For children, there will be workshops, activities, and readings from children's authors to encourage them into eager writers.
During the previous event, best-selling author Heidi Perks spoke about writing thrillers on the South Coast.
Meanwhile, horror writer Matt Shaw shared how he made a career from self-publishing.
Paul Kinvig, COO of the Town Centre BID said: “The first Writing Festival was a huge success and just what Bournemouth needed, bringing together creatives, writers, students, and local businesses with an energetic focus.
“It demonstrated that towns outside of London are hubs of creativity and imagination. We are pleased to continue our support and can’t wait to see what’s on offer in 2024.”
Festival director, Dominic Wong, added, “The buzz and community feel around the first Writing Festival was tangible, evidenced in our continuing networking events and private Facebook group.
“We’ve already had interest from national agents, publishers, and companies wanting to get involved. 2024 promises to be bigger and better.”
The festival takes place from April 26 to 28 next year at venues across Bournemouth town centre, including The Echo Building on Albert Road.
Tickets cost £7 per person, student discount is also available.
