POLICE are searching for a man with a long beard and tattoos who stole glasses from a shop in Lymington.

A CCTV image has been released of a man believed to be involved in the incident, which took place in Lymington at 2.15pm on Tuesday, September 26.

It was reported that a man had entered the shop, picked up a pair of glasses and concealed them within the sleeve of his jacket.

The man then purchased a greetings card, before leaving the store without making any attempt to pay for the glasses.

The man is described as white and around 50 years of age.

He is slim, 6ft tall with broad shoulders.

He has a long beard with hand and neck tattoos, including witch symbols and a phrase on the knuckles.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a navy jacket, a pair of boots, jeans and a green shoulder bag.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “We believe the man in this image can help us with our investigation and would urge him, or anyone who knows his identity, to get in touch with us.

“Also, if you have information about this incident, saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, or have any CCTV, mobile phone, dash cam or doorbell camera footage which could aid our investigation, please contact us.
