MOUNDS of rubbish have been dumped in a spate of fly-tipping.

Chipboard, wall insulation and broken wooden frames have been found at ‘various locations’ in Lytchett Matravers by Dorset Police officers.

It is believed that the haul of trash comes from a knocked-down building or shed.

The Rural Crime Team has warned that fly-tipping is not only unsightly but can be dangerous.

Posting on social media, officers warned “any lines of enquiry will be followed up on and we will work closely with Dorset County Council in order to prosecute these offenders”.

Anyone who has any information that could help the investigation is urged to call the county council on 01305 221040.

The authority has warned that rubbish handed to someone else is ‘still your legal responsibility until it is correctly disposed of’.

And, if anyone - such as an unlicensed 'man in a van' - fly-tips that waste, they could end up paying a fine or being taken to court.

Traders need to be registered as a waste carrier and dispose of any materials in a responsible manner.
