A YOUNG woman has been arrested after a car smashed into a lampost.
Emergency services rushed to Charminster Road, near to the junction with Castle Lane West, during the early hours of Sunday morning.
A car is said to have burst into flames before police arrested an 18-year-old woman on suspicion of driving offences.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 4.06am on Sunday 29 October 2023 of a single vehicle collision in Charminster Road in Bournemouth, near to the junction with Castle Lane West.
“It was reported that the car had collided with a lamppost and was on fire.
“Officers attended, along with the fire service and the fire was extinguished.
“An 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and has been released under investigation as further enquiries are carried out.”
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service added: "A crew from Redhill Park attended Charminster Road, Bournemouth at 3.58am on October 29 after a car collided with a lamppost.
"Firefighters made the vehicle safe and our stop [message] was at 4.58am."
