LIDL will reopen a new supermarket in Dorset next week as construction work comes to an end.
The German retailer will reopen its Ferndown supermarket in Ringwood Road on Thursday, November 9 after it had previously been closed in February.
The old building was 'outdated and could not provide the quality of shopping environment that customers now expect'.
It was demolished and has since been replaced with a modern looking building similar to other new Lidl supermarkets nationally.
Solar panels have also been installed on the roof to provide clean energy for the building.
Lidl says 20 more jobs have been created by the reopening and that team members are the “highest” paid in the supermarket sector.
Lidl GB’s regional head of property, James Mitchell, said: “As our customer base continues to grow, we can’t wait to reopen our Ferndown store following a major revamp.
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we have carried out these improvement works and look forward to welcoming customers – old and new – through the doors.
“As people continue to tighten their belts, we’re in the best possible position to help shoppers make sizable savings.
“Whether it is fresh produce, staple shopping list items or a must-have product from the middle of Lidl, our customers can be sure they’re getting the best value when they shop with us.”
Outside, the car park has been increased to cater for growing demand, with more disabled parking and parent and child spaces now available.
The new 1,216 square metre sales area (279 square metres bigger than before) includes an in-store bakery, longer tills and 113 parking spaces.
The store’s opening hours will be 7am to 10pm on Monday to Saturday and from 9.30am for browsing on Sunday, with tills open 10am to 4pm.
Meanwhile, mystery still surrounds when the new West Parley shop in Christchurch Road will finally open.
Initially expected to open in the spring this year, this has reportedly been delayed because of off-site roadworks.
