A MAN is set to stand trial accused of causing the death of a teen by dangerous driving.

Tyrone Franklin denies causing the death of 16-year-old Billy Lardner by dangerous driving.

However, the 25-year-old, of Newfoundland Drive, Poole, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving at a case management hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court on November 3.

Dorset Police received a report of a crash involving a Honda Civic and a pedestrian, Billy, on Parley Lane, Christchurch, on the night of Friday, June 30.

Emergency services attended, but the teen died at the scene near Bournemouth Airport.

As reported, his family issued a tribute to the youth.

They said: “Billy has left a hole in our heart that we will never fill, 16 years of fun, laughter and unforgettable memories.

"The best son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, bar none.”

A trial date is set for February 19, with a further case management hearing due to take place on Friday, December 15.

Judge Jonathan Fuller KC said: “The matter will be adjourned for a further case management hearing.”

Addressing Franklin, Judge Fuller added: “You will be produced for that hearing.”
