A NEW family business has opened in Winton this week serving Turkish treats and desserts

Lemon Garden offers traditional wedding and birthday cakes and the cafe specialises in cakes such as occasional cakes and desserts.

It also creates baklava, a traditional Turkish dessert, to stay close to its roots.

The eatery also has plans to unveil a breakfast brunch menu for customers once business booms.

Ibrahim Ozturk and his wife Ningun run the business together.

Ibrahim said: “We decided to open in Winton as Wimborne Road is one of the popular locations with constant growth and development.

“Also with the university close we wanted to touch base on making a location comfortable for the neighbourhood and students to visit.

"Cake making and baking is a business my father also was dealing with.

"I grew up in this sector with love and wanted to build my own business in that way too."

Ibrahim also mentioned: “Although we look alike, The Lemon Garden in Winton is not connected with Christchurch.

“They are a family-run business like ourselves but separate from us. I and my wife only run this business in Winton along with our team.

“Our unique selling point is freshly made cakes for all occasions. We have only been open since Monday this week.

“We have had a great start with the lovely support of the neighbourhood and wish to grow in time.

“Everyone will hope to have a successful business, especially with the cost-of-living crisis. We are a family of three and hope that this business will be a new growing step for us.

“We look forward to greeting everyone at Lemon Garden Winton soon.”

The café only opened this week but staff say it is is already receiving great feedback.
