THOUSANDS of people would have seen a mysterious orange glow in the sky last night.

Was it aliens? Was it Russia?

The glow was seen across much of Bournemouth’s skyline and parts of Christchurch last night on Friday, November 17.

One baffled and bewildered resident contacted the Echo concerned it was a fire – but it wasn’t.

While it remains unverified what it was, it’s likely to have been caused by the stadium lights at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium in Boscombe

The glow from the lights on the pitch, which have been in the stadium for more than a decade, is believed to have been enhanced by low cloud and mist from yesterday’s wet weather.

It was seen over the skies of Bournemouth town centre, Boscombe, Charminster, Winton, Parkstone and parts of Christchurch, Spur Road (A338).
