AN HISTORIC Dorset pub is celebrating after winning an award for its dining experience.

The Old Thatch at Stapehill in Wimborne won the best eating experience award at the DMB Tourism Awards which celebrate the best in hospitality industry.

The 17th century pub was announced joint gold winner with The Jetty at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel.

Andy Lennox, the driving force behind The Old Thatch, said: "We’re incredibly happy to have won Best Eating Experience award from the DMB Tourism Awards.

"This honour is a testament to the dedication and passion of our team who continually strive to create an unforgettable experience for our customers.

The Old Thatch offers a menu that celebrates local flavours with guests able to enjoy a range of dishes made by a team led by executive chef Jon Newing.
