A POKESDOWN lash salon is ‘ecstatic’ after taking home two trophies at a prestigious beauty event.
Abi Simmons, owner of Abi Simmons Lashes, is over the moon after she won two titles.
She won the titles of Industry Heart of Gold 2023 and Volume Lash Artist of the Year 2023.
The awards were hosted by Lash Industry Events.
The lash academy also offers courses for other lash enthusiasts, trained by Abi herself.
The 31-year-old from Southbourne was overjoyed at the win, saying: “As a lash artist I thrive in creating bespoke and tailored sets for my clients as well as being a positive and uplifting person for them, as well as within my industry so these two awards could not mean more.
“I’m so proud to win awards in categories for both my lash skills and personality, it’s an honour to be recognised for this.
“I used to work as a makeup artist but wanted to find something that would have more stability and returning clients during the week.
“I took my first lash course in 2018 and it changed my life.”
“The awards were amazing, a great excuse to dress up, meet and make new friends in your industry and you might even walk away with an award or two”.
She added: “Last year I was over the moon to win Lash Tech of the Year 2022 as well, a super proud moment.
“Teaching is such a love of mine and I’ve trained up students who are now running busy and flourishing lash businesses.
“Lashing isn’t just a job for me but an industry that I feel really passionate about and I am incredibly proud of where I am and what I have achieved in these five years.”
“If you’re ever looking to join an incredible beauty industry, I can guarantee you will love the lash industry.
“Pokesdown has become in the past few years an incredible place to be for new and old businesses as well as for the public to visit.
“We have lots of incredible salons along our road and I think that's important to talk about.”
The awards took place on October 28 in Birmingham.
Abi Simmons Lashes is located in Southbourne Road.
