A SPROCKER spaniel suffered grisly injuries that required stitches after she was mauled by two dogs on her daily walk.
Rosie let out a yelp of pain when the animals gouged her thigh leaving her skin hanging off.
The two-year-old spaniel had been playing fetch while out on a walk in Boscombe Cliff Gardens with her owner, Yasmin Lucy Cottrell.
Rosie sustained 'nasty injuries to her thigh' requiring stitches which resulted in a £840 vet bill.
However, the owner of the two dogs that attacked her is said to have given false details.
Richard Turner, Rosie’s owner, and Yasmin’s partner was upset after hearing about her injuries.
He said: “Our dog just cares about chasing the ball. She won't go anywhere near any other dog.
“If a dog comes near her, she just rolls straight onto her back, she's very submissive”.
"She goes shooting with me, so she doesn't need to be on a lead because she's very obedient.
“She ran after the ball and out of nowhere, from behind the opposite direction, about 50 meters away, these two dogs just legged it and just ran across and went for her.
“When she was bitten, she let out a yelp which sounded like a seal.
“They both attacked her and gouged her thigh, leaving skin hanging off.
“She's honestly the sweetest little girl, I was really upset when I found out about it, we're shaken and so is Rosie.”
“When Yasmin turned around, the owner had made off and was basically trying to leg it, power walking away with the dogs.”
The violent ordeal cost Richard and Yasmin £840 in vet bills to nurse Rosie back to health.
The 36-year-old health advisor from Bournemouth added: “When Rosie arrived at the vet's, they investigated her injury straight away.
“They sedated her and stitched up the wound and found another wound, a bit of a smaller one, which they glued.
“They gave her some antibiotics.
“It cost us £840 altogether.”
The dogs that attacked Rosie are believed to have been Canaan dogs.
The attack happened at around 1.45pm on Wednesday.
Witnesses are urged to contact the dog warden quoting reference number SRU295216.
