RAIL passengers are facing major disruption today due to a points failure.
A passenger onboard a service this morning told the Echo it was due to a “frozen point” at Brockenhurst.
Passenger Nicky Findley said she had been stuck on a train at Bournemouth for more than an hour.
South Western Railway said all lines towards Southampton have now reopened.
However, train services may be cancelled, delayed or revised up until 2pm today.
The rail operator said: “We were earlier informed that there is a problem with a set of points at Brockenhurst This has now been resolved and all lines have reopened.
“Whilst the service recovers, services will be subject to delays, cancellations and short notice alterations.”
Tickets are being accepted on the following bus services:
Bluestar 8, 9, 11 and 12 between Southampton - Millbrook - Redbridge -
Totton Bluestar 6 between Southampton - Totton - Ashurst - Brockenhurst - Lymington
Morebus X1 and X2 between Lymington - New Milton - Christchurch -
Bournemouth Morebus 120 between New Milton - Sway - Lymington
Morebus 119 between New Milton and Lymington
Morebus 1A, 1B and 1C between Bournemouth - Pokesdown - Christchurch
Morebus 33 between Bournemouth and Christchurch
South Western Railway added: “For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”
The rail operator said a set of points are the part of the track that can move, allowing the train to change direction and access different parts of the network.
