CHRISTCHURCH’S ‘living’ advent calendar is now well underway in the town.
The Christchurch Living Advent Calendar (CLAC) has now reached week two, which is expected to be just as packed with performances.
Organised by Christchurch Rotary Club and other volunteers, CLAC is a free-to-attend event which has been running in Christchurch through-out December for the past two years.
It sees a performance by a Dorset artist or group every evening – to mark each ‘door’ of the calendar being opened.
The first performance on December 1 saw the 130-strong Rock Choir entertain a large crowd in Saxon Square.
There have since been performances at 6pm on every evening in different town centre venues.
CLAC organisers have now revealed some exciting performances coming up in the calendar.
On Friday, December 8, the CLAC event will be held at 6pm in Saxon Square in aid of Macmillan Caring Locally, and on Saturday, December 9, CLAC is at the Baptist Church for a show sponsored by the Primrose Trust to help the Pramalife charity.
On Sunday, December 10, it is the turn of Ye Olde George Inn to welcome a presentation, sponsored by the Primrose Trust, in aid of the Marie Curie Fundraising Group.
Then, on Monday, December 11, Saxon Square will host a performance sponsored by TC Group in support of Christchurch Food Bank+.
Tuesday, December 12 will see spectators invited to the Captain’s Club Hotel for a show sponsored by B Cole and Son Funfair for the benefit of The Listening Ear charity.
On Wednesday, December, 13 the Kings Arms Pavilion hosts a performance sponsored by Christchurch Charitable trust in aid of Autism Unlimited.
To conclude the week, B Cole and Son Funfair sponsors a show at the Boathouse on Thursday, December 14, in support of the charity My Time, and on Friday, December 15, Somerford ARC hosts an event to support its own activities, sponsored by Hoburne Dental Care.
Performances will then continue to run every evening at 6pm until December 24, when there will be a special Christmas Eve celebration in Saxon Square starting at 2pm.
