A BOURNEMOUTH business has donated £500 worth of Christmas presents including Nintendo Switch games and headphones to a children’s hospice.

Online education provider, learndirect, has donated a ‘sack of toys’ to Julia’s House in preparation for Christmas.

It has raised more than £10,000 for the children’s hospice charity, since first partnering with them in June last year.

The education provider has donated a variety of toys including Nintendo Switch games, book collections, digital watches, cuddly toys and headphones.

Julia’s House volunteers wrapped the gifts and they will be given to families either in their own homes during community sessions or during hospice visits.

Wayne Janse van Rensburg, Group Chief Executive Officer at learndirect, said: “We have been able to see first-hand the incredible care that everyone at Julia’s House provides for the children and their families.

“With Christmas being a time of giving, we’re more than happy to donate gifts, and we hope all the children enjoy the festive holiday with their loved ones.

“The children at Julia’s House and their families face so many challenges each and every day, so we hope that our donation can help create moments of joy for them over the Christmas period.”

Julia’s House supports children throughout Dorset and Wiltshire, providing respite breaks for families.

Caroline Attreed, corporate fundraiser at Julia’s House, said: “learndirect is a fantastic business supporter; always enthusiastic and keen to get involved with our challenges, such as treks and skydives.

“The support we receive from the team is fabulous and we are hugely grateful to learndirect for helping us to be a lifeline of care for local families.

“The gifts that have been donated this Christmas will put lots of smiles on the children’s faces.”

Since partnering with the charity, learndirect have taken part in various fundraising efforts including coastal walks, cake sales and daring skydives.

The business plans to continue its support into 2023 through more fundraisers.
