POLICE are advising club goers what to do if they find themselves in an unsafe situation as part of the UN’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
The ‘Ask for Angela’ scheme is being promoted by the Dorset Police Licensing team in venues across the county.
It can be used by anyone who feels like they are in an unsafe situation where the poster is displayed.
This could be a date that has taken a turn or harassment by a stranger.
Staff in the venue are trained to find a discreet way to remove the person from the situation.
However, even if a poster is not displayed and a member of the public feels unsafe or is receiving unwanted attention, they should still inform staff or security in the venue.
Although, if someone is in immediate danger they should call 999 immediately.
