A DORSET mental health charity has launched a new online support group aimed at the LGBTQ+ community.
MindOutOnline is an exclusive mental health support group for the queer community created by Mind Dorset.
The sessions ‘will complement the existing in-person support groups and will be accessible to individuals across the region’.
Each session will last two hours weekly to help LGBTQ+ individuals with mental health issues.
The sessions will be hosted by trained practitioners who specialise in LGBTQ+ issues.
Dorset Mind CEO, Linda O’Sullivan, said: "MindOut Online represents our commitment to providing inclusive and accessible mental health support.
“We understand the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community and believe that offering a dedicated online space for support will greatly benefit individuals who may seek understanding, guidance, and a sense of community."
MindOut facilitator John Nevin added: “The members who have already joined the online group have said it is an uplifting and safe space where they are able to share their experiences, positive and negative; around their sexuality and gender identity and the impacts upon their mental health.”
Each session includes reserved time to share experiences and concerns along with interactive workshops adapted to the needs of the queer community.
