FIREFIGHTERS were called to extinguish a chimney fire that broke out in Blanford Forum on Christmas day.

A crew from Sturminster Newton attended a property in Child Okeford after a reported chimney fire.

Firefighters used a chimney kit to extinguish the fire and a roof ladder to check the property.

Police and ambulance services were not called to attend the fire that happened at about 2pm.

Firefighters also attended an incident in Ashley Heath, Ringwood.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “A fire crew from Redhill Park attended an electricity pole in Ashley Heath, which was overheating and shorting out.

“The crew cordoned off the area, as there was debris falling from the top of the pole.

“When the  electricity board arrived, the incident was handed over to them, and the fire crew returned to the station.”

The fire service has also attended several alarms caused by cooking fumes today.

A spokesperson said that people should never leave cooking unattended and to remember metallic items can’t go in the microwave.
