MORE than 40 objections have been lodged against multi-million-pound plans to demolish a house and replace it with three homes, each worth more than £9m.
Neighbours have hit out at what they say will be overdevelopment of the site, in Pearce Avenue in Lilliput.
These homes could fetch up to £9.25m each, a financial viability assessment said.
However, neighbours and groups in the area have submitted 45 objections to the plans to the council.
Two comments in support of the scheme have also been submitted.
Objectors raised concerns that the plans would be an overdevelopment, due to the size and density of the proposed properties.
One resident suggested that the buildings would ‘dwarf’ the surrounding homes, and another said they would ‘dominate’ the road, resulting in overshadowing and a loss of privacy.
Neighbours said they were also concerned about traffic due to construction and onwards, with amenities including Parkstone Yacht Club and the Lilliput surgery nearby.
Others said the proposals would have a significant impact on the environment in the area, due to the extended footprint of the proposed development.
One resident said: “This project would severely impair the street and lives of everyone that lives here.”
Another added: “It is absolutely crucial that the planning officers consider the implications of this application very carefully - the future of the Elms Estate is at stake here.”
The Society for Poole also submitted its objections to the proposals.
The society said the scheme ‘significantly fails to respect the character and distinctiveness of the area’.
It also raised concerns that the plans ‘may not be used for permanent residential accommodation’.
Objectors raised concerns that approving the scheme would set a precedent for buildings of a similar size, which could see blocks of flats and HMOs built in the area.
A consultation for the plans will end on January 12. There is no set date for a decision on the scheme at this stage.
