A LEISURE centre in Bournemouth has reopened after a month’s closure for ‘essential electrical maintenance’.
Littledown Centre, in Chaseside, reopened on Tuesday, January 2 after closing on December 4.
During this time contractors installed new electrical panels that had been damaged in a plant room fire in November 2022.
BH Live’s associate director for leisure, Rob Cunnigham, said in December that ‘the time has come’ to make these essential repairs after temporary fixes were used to keep the centre open since the fire.
The much-loved water slides were removed recently after 'reaching their end of life' in August 2021.
Other works completed during the closure included fitting energy-efficient LED lighting.
The centre is jointly managed by BH Live and BCP Council.
BH Live also operates centres at Corfe Mullen, Pelhams, Queen’s Park, Sir David English and Stokewood.
It thanked its customers and its team for their support and understanding during the closure.
At its Stokewood leisure centre, work began on Tuesday on a six-figure refurbishment of the centre’s changing rooms.
This work is estimated to take up to 12 weeks.
