TESCO is looking to open its latest shop in Poole “in the coming weeks”, the company has confirmed.

The company is excited to open a Tesco Express shop in Haven Road, Canford Cliffs, however, an exact date has not been set.

Approval was given to convert four empty units along the shopping parade by BCP Council in July.

Since then, Tesco branding has been put up outside, with the shop looking close to being completed.

A spokesperson said: “We’re excited to be working towards the opening of our new Tesco Express store in Canford Cliffs which is due to open in the coming weeks.

“We will keep the local community updated with our plans as they progress.”

In its report on the Tesco proposal to open in Canford Cliffs, BCP Council said the supermarket would provide an “uplift” to the parade and “enhance the vitality and viability of the local centre”.

It also added the proposal “would result in additional footfall into the village centre”.

The shop was also given the thumbs up by Branksome Park and Canford Cliffs Residents’ Association.

The group said it expected “most people would be very happy to see the empty units be filled” but warned convenience shopkeepers nearby may not be as pleased.
