A CHIMNEY fire broke out at a home in east Dorset.
Fire crews raced to a property in Steppes, Langton Matravers on Wednesday afternoon after they were alerted to the blaze.
Chimney rods and other equipment were used to clear the firer from the chimney before a thermal imaging camera was deployed to check it had not spread.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to a property in Steppes, Langton Matravers at 12.15pm on Wednesday (18 January) for a chimney fire.
“Two crews attended, from Swanage and Wareham, and chimney rods and other equipment were used to clear the fire safely.
“A thermal imaging camera was also used to check there was no fire spread to the loft space. The stop was at 1.34pm.”
Swanage Fire Station added: “One pump, backed up by one engine from Wareham, was mobilised to a chimney fire in Langton Matravers earlier.
“This proved quite stubborn but after hard work by crews on scene it was extinguished after approximately 90 mins.
“Crews then made up and returned to home station for further cleaning of the equipment.”
