A MURDER trial is set to begin after a teenager was fatally stabbed in Bournemouth town centre.
Cameron Hamilton, 18, was pronounced dead in Bournemouth Square after being stabbed in the chest, an inquest previously heard.
Following the incident in the early hours of August 5, 2023, two 18-year-old men were charged in connection with Cameron’s death.
Thomas Betteridge, of Southsea, is accused of murder and being in possession of a bladed article.
Lennie Hansen, of Waterlooville, has been charged with assisting an offender and possessing a bladed article.
The trial is set to begin on Monday, January 29 and is predicted to last between three to four weeks.
An inquest opening into Cameron’s death heard that he was a plumber from Bournemouth and is believed to have been injured after a fight in the town.
In a statement through Dorset Police, Cameron’s family said he was ‘loved so much’ and that their 'beautiful boy' had been taken.
They said: “We don't want this to be what Cam is remembered for, we want him to be remembered for the funny, kind and wonderful person he is and always will be.”
Cameron was a pupil at Bournemouth School until 2022 and headteacher, Dr Dorian Lewis, said in a tribute that he was ‘a popular and lively member of the school community’.
He added: “Throughout his time at the school, Cameron was polite and courteous, with a warm smile that brightened everyone’s day."
