CONCERN was raised after a woman was seen at the end of Bournemouth Pier.

Emergency services were alerted to a woman who was found at the end of the pier just after 5pm yesterday, Sunday, January 28.

The police, along with the Coastguard, negotiated with the woman for nearly three hours before she was brought to safety.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 5.17pm on Sunday 28 January 2024 raising concern for the welfare of a woman at the end of Bournemouth Pier.

"Officers attended, along with the coastguard, and efforts were made to engage with the woman.

"She was taken to safety at around 8.35pm and given appropriate care."

HM Coastguard's spokeswoman added: "HM Coastguard assisted Dorset Police with an incident in the Bournemouth Pier area yesterday, 28 January.

"Alerted at around 5.20pm, Poole and Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Teams and lifeboats from Poole and Mudeford RNLI were sent to the scene."
