POOLE BRIDGE is currently closed after developing a fault in its operating system.
Built in 1927, the bridge serves as a road link across a busy boating channel.
The bridge is reportedly closed halfway up and halfway down.
Emergency works are taking place to fix the issue.
Twin Sails bridge remains open.
A BCP Spokesperson said: "An unexpected fault in the operating system of Poole Bridge has led to the bridge needing to be kept in the raised position and the road temporarily closed.
"Our team is working with our contractor to urgently fix this fault.
"We are currently unable to say how long the road will be closed for.
"Twin Sails bridge remains fully open and operational."
BCP Council also posted the same statement on its social media.
