A MAIN road leading to Poole town centre will be closed for part of this week for resurfacing work.

Wimborne Road between the New Inn junction and Tatnam Road/Garland Road junction will be closed to all vehicles from Monday, February 12.

The road at the junction with Winterbourne Road will be closed on February 12, while Stokes Avenue and Sandbourne Road will see their junctions closed the following day.

All road closures will be in place between 7am and 6pm, lifting for the evening and night.

BCP Council has said the closures will be in place during the school’s half term holidays “to minimise disruption”.

A spokeswoman for the authority said: “Thank you for your patience while these improvements are carried out.”

Signed diversion routes will be in place during all closures, which includes via Hole Bay Road and Longfleet Road.

The road has seen a lot of closures lately, as BCP Council work on its “sustainable travel improvements” to Poole town centre.

Last October, the road was closed for a working week between Haynes Avenue and Tatnam Road for resurfacing work.

Julian McLaughlin, director for infrastructure at BCP Council, previously said the work will eventually end with a “smooth, pot-hole free route in and out of Poole town centre”.
